Interview Shoot with Neurodiverse Sport Founders

We recently had the incredible opportunity to work with the founders of Neurodiverse Sport, a groundbreaking initiative led by Caragh McMurtry and Mikey Mottram, alongside COO Leah Godfrey and EA Melanie Wincott. The goal of this shoot was simple yet profound: capture these inspiring individuals as they shared their personal journeys as athletes, their experiences with neurodiversity, and the mission behind Neurodiverse Sport.

The Perfect Setting

The shoot took place at a beautiful house, which made set dressing a breeze. The atmosphere of the location added an elegant and cozy touch to the interview, helping create a warm and intimate vibe. With such a fitting environment, our objective was to keep things simple yet professional, allowing the focus to remain on the stories being told.

The Shoot Setup

For the shoot, we used two of our trusty Canon EOS R cameras. We set both cameras to shoot at 125fps, with an aperture of f2 and an 800 ISO, ensuring the lighting and movement would be smooth and the depth of field would add a cinematic feel to the interviews.

We went for a two-camera setup to get different angles and provide a dynamic viewing experience:

  • Camera 1: Equipped with the 85mm Canon lens, providing a head-on, clean, professional shot.

  • Camera 2: Fitted with the 100mm Canon lens, positioned at a tighter, side angle to offer a different perspective.

Lighting and Audio

For lighting, we used the Nanlite Forza 60B with a diffused soft-box, creating a soft, even light that highlighted the subjects beautifully without being harsh. Sitting the interviewees away from the wall gave the shots more depth, making the image more cinematic and polished.

How the set was laid out

When it comes to audio, we never compromise. For this shoot, we used the Rode Mic Go2, which delivered crisp, clear sound, capturing every word perfectly. As with all our shoots, ensuring top-notch audio is just as crucial as the visuals.

The Stories and Content

The aim of the interviews was to give the founders and team members of Neurodiverse Sport a platform to share their neurodiverse journeys and athlete stories. Through the interviews, Caragh, Mikey, Leah, and Melanie detailed the mission and goals of the organisation, highlighting how they hope to impact and support neurodiverse individuals through sports.

Their stories were not only powerful but also deeply personal, making it a privilege to capture such an important and inspiring message on camera. The interviews provided us with an abundance of footage, including extra content that can be repurposed for future campaigns or projects.

A Successful Shoot

Overall, the shoot was a success, both technically and creatively. We walked away with high-quality footage that will undoubtedly elevate Neurodiverse Sport’s messaging and help them reach a wider audience. The clean setup, professional lighting, and the Canon EOS R cameras ensured we captured beautiful, intimate moments that resonate.
